Firstly let me say that I really appreciate you guys taking he time to comment.
It is very encouraging. I am hoping that the effects of the new medication continue and the mood strikes me to start painting again.
I know "Art" is very subjective and styles, experience and skill levels vary greatly between artists. Comparing my feeble efforts to the quality of a lot of the people here like comparing chalk and cheese. But hopefully other beginners will be encouraged to post their efforts too. IMO, this is not a competition on who's artwork is the 'best', but an opportunity to share, learn, encourage and gain inspiration. Come on, don't be shy, share your work and maybe you will be an inspiration to someone on the other side of the planet who stumbles across it while surfing the web..
@Esper: I no longer see the content of your posts so I cannot make any comment.

You both should be careful what you wish for - you may end up regretting it...

Very nice, I would hang that up in my house...well, not with that frame, lol.
I agree I wouldn't use that frame either, it just suits my fluffybunny persona

How do you create a color palette from a photo
No big secret there gramg, open your image/photo in Gimp, then locate the 'palette' window it's under Windows->Dockable dialogs->Palettes. Then right click any of your existing palettes, and choose Import Palette.
Select from Image, then reduce the number of colours as required and save your new palette.
Hope that helps.
