Here's some more stuff I've done using Krita's symmetry tools. Didn't want to flood Griatch's thread with them so made my own...

This first one doesn't use sketch brush, just regular inks (and paint! in colour!) and the dynamic drawing tool. I made it recently...

Excellent work dd. I particularly like the first "doodle". When you are not bogged down with specifics your imagination gets a chance to be spontaneous.

Yeah. There's this certain drawing technique that sort of depends on the imagination of the viewer more so than the artist. The human mind has such pattern recognition capabilities it's amazing what it can do when you give it free hands.

I once crumpled an A4 paper into a ball and then opened it. Then I drew all the things I saw in the wrinkles, it took some 8 hours and the end result was amazing, you could "see" new things in it all the time... too bad I don't have it anymore.

dd: these are really great! i love them all, but the top one and the first doodle were my favourites. i also really like the idea of crumpling up an A4 and drawing what you see in it, i'll have to try that some time!

It occurs to me that you could probably try the same technique digitally. Use some combination of noise filters and textures to get some kind of complex random pattern and start drawing on it...

Fun designs, dd. One can really spend a lot of time just exploring mirror functionality.

As for crumpling the paper, getting inspiration out of semi-random structures sounds similar to how Alchemy works. I never really got into Alchemy but I know some artists swear by it.

That's a fantastic idea. I might give it a try one day. Molly once did a thread on painting images into textures. I'll see if I can find it - it's a similar idea.
