Molly i just downloaded mypaint and i thought about trying a painting with it. i have a tablet, and i have read that the mouse doesn't work well with mypaint. on every painting i have done with gimp has been with my mouse. I'm taking that you use the tablet to paint your pictures...i have had trouble using the tablet with gimp. so what should i use, my mouse or the tablet?

and nice work. they look great.

my tablet also came with a mouse but I use the pen for painting. It works great with Linux. It worked fine with Windows too, except when I went from the mouse to the pen, it always crashed.

Thank you Erisian I just couldn't get the fur on the face to look natural, I have so much to learn about what brushes to use.

Thank you Merrak, just wish I could get the texture better in the face. Here is another little Red Parrot I tried. I didn't do the background, I just wanted something to sit her/him on. :teeth

That's really nice Mo. I love the colours. It would be nice if you could turn the background into a fake painting. G'MIC smooth (Thin Brush) is often good for this followed by a little sharpening.

Thank you Eris, I will do something different with the BG. I guess I should have stuck with my first game plan and just make a branch from scratch and sit him on it and put a sky behind it.

Thank you. I used my ring brush for the eye instead of trying to draw a circle.

Looks that way, I found they are very hard for me. I couldn't do the texture that is on the side of the bird, it was almost impossible. I couldn't get the texture right on the feet also. I need some lessons.

Looks much nicer with a painted background Mo. The parrot stands out more as well. :)

My first, maybe my last attempt at a human profile. I need some help and hints on how to do better blending and eyes.
I think I should have started with a pool ball.
