I watched a tutorial on youtube here for designing a vibrant color ring. I new right away, this could be possible in Gimp, and this is my try.



I achieved this by drawing circles, cutting them in appropriate sushi shapes, re-positioning and rotating them etc:

Thanx. it is more complicated from PS's perspective, but the process I used was super simplified in GIMP; "If all that matters is the result." Ha ha !!!

I just looked at your layers, how did you get that second color in, you started with two gray shapes, then you got two white ones in to for the circle. I can't see how you did that.

I actually ended up with four layers each with a cresent shape and I chose different color for each of them. I then merged the first two layers and also merged the third and fourth layer to remain with only two layers. I then picked the blend tool for the gradient colors and applied them on the two layers in alternating direction.

It looks like a multi-fruit flavoured Polo. I like it a lot though it makes me hungry looking at it. Nice work.

What ever you did, that is totally super cool. I looked at your layers in the xcf file and can't figure out what you did. I love it!!!

I found the YouTube video of it and after watching it I felt a bit stunned. However, you translated it into Gimp in what sounds like a much more compact and efficient way. Yours is prettier, too. Colors more vibrant.
