i made this from a gsl tutorial, it's for a friend who could make a nice sounding midi file starting from some very simple material i posted him.

:jumpclap That looks great, AnMal.

I like the texture, and everything works well together.

jas45: thank you! i used molly's gold waffle pattern for the texture, it's a favourite of mine and it's in the "post your patterns and textures" thread if you don't already have it.

The 3D effect is really well done and placing the letters in a sort of round shape works very good! :D What font did you use?

baukjespirit: thank you :)! i liked the rounded layout too. the font is called zodillin and i found it dafont, zodillin when i searched for fonts wich covered the full swedish alphabet.

super awesome, AnMal ! :jumpclap

its so nice to have such a lovely person as you, who makes all the work i do for my blog a pleasure !

your piece reminds me very much of those glowing wurlitzer jukeboxes
i wish it was a bit bigger

i see some interesting details:
hiw did you get that twist in the interpolation ?
at some places it seems to get a digaonal almost spiralling twist, if you know what i mean

also the white outer glow seems to do some unexpecting cool things
did you interpolate bits of the glow, like in xgeous extrusion tutorial ?

I decided to see if I could control the twist Esper asked about. All I did was tilt the lower letters to the left, and the upper letters to the right (something the Inkscape text tool can do) before the interpolation.

I wouldn't call it a success, but the twist is very pronounced in the "rounded" letters like the "G". I will probably experiment a little more with this later... maybe a chunky "square" font on the bottom and a more rounded font on the top might be interesting.

esper: thank you, that's very flattering to hear!
the original is a bit bigger, as usual. the twist happened because of the shape and placement of the two text paths i used for the interpolation and i see jas45 has already worked that out and played around with it :). if i get you correctly, it's not the white outer glow that does the cool things. i first just enhanced the lightest parts of the extrusion by using an unnecessarily complicated process involving specular bumps. then i added some little extra highlights and sparkles.
mokonafan: :rofl i didn't even think of that! whenever i do something like this i end up using pink :). he didn't complain, though! thank you, sis!
jas45: great experiment! please post the results when you've played with it a bit more!
erisian: thank you :)! i'm glad you like it.
