Hey everyone, i am having issues with the scaling tool. I have an image that is to large for the current transparent layer. I scale it down using the tool but the problem is, when i use the smudge tool, paint tool or any other tool, it wont go passed the yellow line that surrounds the newly scaled image. I need the smudge tool and paint tool to be able to extend past the scaled image but not further than the actual canvas. how do i get rid of that yellow line?

ya when i get home form the shop, ill post a screen shot.

Also... what Esper suggested could do the trick.

here is a screen shot. notice the blank paint wont xtend beyond the yellow line onto the canvas. I have tried by adding a layer above it and or below it. nogo. i have even just tried scalling on the original layer, and still same issue. i cant get the paint or smudge tool to work beyond the yellow line.

To turn off the layer boundry, you need to go to View>Show Layer Boundry and untick it to get rid of the yellow layer boundry lines.Then do layer to image size.

I need some ideas to. so that cool eye picture i posted, im tryin to blur the edges a we bit so that i can put it on a 2.5x2.5 square business card for my wife. She is a makeup artist and wants a cool business card. Im having artist block right now. dont know what to do either. The eye will be in the upper corner of a white card. but making it blend with the white background of the card is tricky. i am using inkscape as the layout program. Im not lookin for a step by step tutorial, just some ideas maybe.

how about a black card with white text ?

If you really need to use a white card layout.
Try the Select>Feather tool around your eye.The more you feather the more transparency will be around the eye image so the white blends into the transparent pixels.Select the eye>Select>invert>select>feather feather by 7-9 or so.
This is by 7.

Ill try the black back ground. hopefully the eye is in good standing that i wont need to edit it any more

Ok here is what the wife and i came up with. thanks for the help and ideas. each card will have a different eye color as well. ok so we will have 5 diff eye colors. haha

thank you much. she has worked hard at her schooling. The card is a square 2.5 inch by 2.5 inch. This way, it stands out a little bit more when people o to job fairs and they have 200 standard business cards in their hand only one will stand out.

im still getting used to the gimp big time. same features as photoshop, just different place. IE, alpha to selection, in PS, its jut you select what you want and then paste it. wen you ctrl+click on the layer, it does the alpha to selection automatically. or maybe ctrl+click is the hot key. hahahaha
