@ Lyle - I still use Redfield's Fractalius. I paid for it i may as well use it. :lol
I do like to use both on the same image just to see the differences and see if i can mimic Redfield's filter i have to admit. :P

I've noticed that applying some 'heavy' smoothing algorithm (e.g. mean curvature) after the rodilius filter helps in rendering something close to what fractalius does.
Very nice lion indeed !

Redfield said that it is the fractal that is present in every image that his filter brings out. :)
I am inclined to believe that.
