I once spent half of a day searching for this font and am now asked to recreate a sign using it. I've searched many places for it and am just wondering if anybody recognizes it at first impression.

This is only a guess but the P, H, R and possibly the S look like they were manipulated from a base font. The ascenders don't appear consistent with a single font.

I sent it into DaFont to get it identified and they deleted it saying it was too fuzzy...I sharpened and renamed it and resent it and they deleted it again. Never had that happen before. It looks very readable to me.

It's indeed rather blurry. If it's worth it:
- trace individual characters (especially P/h/r/s/)
- arrange them with no kerning (especially r/s)
- path to selection, fill
- resubmit to Dafont

I know of a font called 'Gold Plated' by JLH Fonts. The 'P' in this font is very similar.


This font has no lowercase lettering, but the 'P' looks almost the same. Also, I'm thinking that a single font wasn't used to create this sign/name plaque and may be a combination of fonts and not just one single font by itself.
And that lowercase 's' doesn't look all that consistent with the other letters. Not to mention the word 'The', which look like a totally different font altogether when compared to the rest.

Here in the font 'Shifty Chica', you'll notice the similarities in the lowercase 'h' and the lowercase 'i'.

Thanks for the help everybody. I think my best bet is to find a sarif font that matches it and turn it into outlines in Illustrator and just add the extra peices manually.

I have Illustrator 8 and am so familiar with it. I also have Inkscape but could never get the blending to work so I never spent much time learning it.

I believe the font you are looking for is Camilla.But the 2nd h seems different and the S is capitalized in Pilchers.Possibly the second h was edited in Inkscape, or Illustrator?

I did submit my drawing of the image I posted of the lettering and didn't come up with any kind of real match.

Yes Rod that is the closest match. I am happy to have found even something similar. I've spend so much time looking for fonts when I worked for a company that put together yellow page adds.

It's so much easier if I just draw fonts like this rather than look them up but sometimes I just find myself so curious to find it that I can't stop.

PegLeg if you are interested i can create the font for you (TTF), if you create the letter images.
Then you will have it when you need it.

I was contacted by a client of mine to create the height map so that he could carve it with his CNC machine for his client. For some reason the P in that font seems to me like there is a font somewhere that created it. I feel this even more now since it is the second time I'm using it. I'm not so much interested in creating a whole new font set though.

Doing the work on this image makes me feel like I'm having De Ja Voo. In searching for a base font to use to create that image I was looking for something that created the same high horizontal line in the e, the same slanted serif in the s, and the same kind of roundness in the top of the c. These are very characteristic of the actual font used to create the original image. The only font I found with these similar characteristic was bookman. But not bookman italic. I had to slant it manually. I'm almost certain that I had done this same name all before when I did it for a yellow page ad 15 years ago. It's posible that I had since it is for someone who is located in Lake Geneva just over the border from me. It was all so familiar.

Agree, the first 'h' is different from the second

I was able to find BookmanOutlineSwash and it is a free font.Bookman swash italic is commercial.

Yes it downloads as an executable and if you skip all the extra garbage it saves a zip file (the one i attached), to your desktop.
I erased the link and added the attachment instead.
