Both the head gaskets and timing chain gaskets blew out last Friday. :(
1,400 USD to fix it. I used to do this kind of stuff myself back in the day but i don't get any of this new fangled front wheel drive garbage. I tried changing the tie rod ends one time and couldn't get the axle out to get the end off. :lol

The only thing i do on it now is brakes and oil. Saves me a little money there.
Darnedest thing is when we had a leak last year i asked if the timing chain cover was leaking but they said nope, it looks good to us.So i let them replace the bottle and 2 pulleys and forgot all about it.Well 3 months later it started leaking so i put some bars leak in it and it held for a good while.Until now :hehe

Ahh just needed to vent. Sooo much money down the tubes.Unbelievable what they charge nowadays isn't it?

Really, really hate when that kind of stuff happens. No matter how we try to take care of things, stuff still goes wrong. Hope your car is fixed right this time and you won't have to deal with "stuff" on it ever again (yeah, that's asking for a lot). Image

Had this same thing happen to me. Apparently, I had a leak in my radiator. Truck was overheating on my way home. Didn't notice if the heat gauge was working or not, but I found out when I got back in town. Started running poorly, and died at a stop sign. I got out and pushed my truck into the school parking lot. Popped the hood open, could tell it was hot, obviously. Pulled the dipstick out to check the oil, and as soon as I pulled it out, I could smell antifreeze. Warped both heads. About the same, $1500. Ouch.

Yikers! They do have 14 hrs in labor and parts costs though so i guess that is pretty fair when you come right down to it.

Bikes rock! I am close enough to ride mine to work.

I am just glad we have free towing through our fully covered 2001 Taurus. :) Wasn't going to give it full coverage but decided to anyway.Glad i did. It has saved us a bundle in towing fees alone.
They told me today the heads are still out being resurfaced so i doubt today will be pickup the fixed car day. :lol
Oh well Wife gets another day off. :hehe

Well we picked up the car today.
They told me it was going to cost me 1,600.00 USD to get the car back after repairs. When i asked why so much more (200.00 more), they said well we had to replace the head bolts and those spark plug wires look bad so we replaced them.Mind you we didn't charge you labor costs to put them in just 80.00 USD for the cost of the plug wires and 25.00 USD for the head bolts ( that they probably broke getting out).
We will never go back there again. They could have at the very least called me and asked to replace the wires. And i highly doubt the head bolts were no good after taking them out unless they snapped a few.

Sorry Gimp Chat i just needed to vent some more.

Car seems to run very good though, on the upside of things.

You know what the sad thing is though Lyle?
Only 489.00 is the parts cost on the receipt. Everything else is labor. WOW!
