GIMP Version: 2.6.11
Operating System: Mac OS
OS Version: X - 10.8.3
GIMP Experience: Basic Level

I have an aiptek 600u tablet.

The relevant drivers (I believe!) are installed on my Mac.
However Pressure Sensitivity does not work in Gimp. Under Input devices there is no tablet listing, just:

Core Pointer
Quartz Cursor
Quartz Eraser
Quartz Pen

Under mode they all say disabled.

I'm afraid that's as far as I got by myself!
Thank you for any help :D

This is the first time I've heard of the Aiptek 600u tablet. I use a Wacom pen tablet with Windows xp OS and Gimp 2.6.11, it worked properly right out of the box, I didn't have to do anything.

Sorry, but I don't know what your issue might be and I also don't know Mac.

rufus: welcome to gimp chat! i'm not a tablet user, hopefully one of that crowd will show up and help you soon. in the meantime, though - have you tried opening your gimp with the tablet? that tip seems to have helped a lot of tablet users before, so maybe it can help you.

I'm using a trust tablet and have to go to Edit>Input Devices and select the tablet the mode shows disabled but if I click on the disabled box I get two other options which are screen and window, selecting one of these brings life to the tablet.

So have you tried enabling any of the devices showing in your input window.

I use a HanWang tablet and Gimp recognizes it right away in Edit>Input Devices

First step is to make sure pressure sensitivity works at all. Did you get some software with your tablet, a calibration program or some simple graphics bundle? If so, test there and make sure your tablet is set up correctly for your computer.

I don't know about that tablet make at all, but the fact that the tablet devices (Pointer, Cursor, Eraser, Pen) shows up in GIMP is a good sign. You should be able to click the "disabled" radio button and set it to "Screen". Do so for the Cursor and Eraser to begin with. The Core Pointer is likely a generic mouse equivalent. Not sure about what Pen is supposed to be, if the Cursor device doesn't do anything, maybe try activating the Pen device instead.
