Salem is just up Interstate 5 from me; it's the state capitol of Oregon.

It's just a hop away on my broom.

Can't get this to work for me, in either 2.6, or 2.8. Have had it working before, but am having the same problem. It gets to the G'MIC update, and crashes on me. viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7566#p97839 Have refreshed G'MIC before hand, same result.

EDIT: Have reinstalled G'mic on both versions, and have reloaded the script to both versions. Refreshed G'mic, still won't work.

does it give any error message you can save to file, add an error console to where your layers are, also are you using Rel2, open script in text editor and the Release No. is at top

Lastly does Pack sprites work directly from Gmic

Graechan, I think the problem is I've updated the 'Pack sprites' filter recently and the parameters have changed (there is one parameter more, for the 'allow rotation' feature).
Note that I'm still working on this filter, trying to allow packing of multiple different sprites, so there will be likely other changes in the future.

Ah, that's probably it then. It worked the other night. Thanks for the update.

Graechan if that is the cause fix the script should be simple :
test again the gmic filter with focus on the new option added

Then you may just chose to hardcode the value for "rotation" that give corresponding result to that used in your previous version of the script ...that is the easiest because edit will be just add the missed parameter

In case you prefer add a option to allow user control on that new variable , that value would be still useful as most reasonable default

Maybe so PC but David's going to change it again soon so I thing Graechan's just waiting until all the updates are finished; Coder's perogative (and it would be mine too if I could code; lol). Looking forward to the update that would allow multiple objects; way too cool. Object packing is sort of a a side addiction for me (as many here may already know; lol). :)

I understand that all these changes and updates could be considered as very annoying for coders writing external scripts using calls to G'MIC features. For instance, I know that samj already complained about that issue on GC :)
But at the same time, you all know that G'MIC has a very powerful update mechanism that eases the addition of new filters and the update of those already here. How many times I was so happy to see that filters I've coded few minutes/hours before were already used with nice results posted here on Gimpchat ? I can't count.
I'm sure people prefer to push a single 'refresh' button rather than having to copy a new .scm file in some exotic locations :) Maybe not here on Gimpchat, because you know what you are doing, but for standard users, this is probably the case.
In my opinion, we cannot have at the same time such a flexible update mechanism and a simple way to ensure the stability of external tools that are using G'MIC as a backend. These are two antagonist features.

Not that I want to deny this frequent API change issue, but I'd like to remind you the other cool side related to this issue :)

Correct but in this case the "fix" is simple as add a number (a reasonable hardcoded value for "rotation " ) in the right place of the script, and the right place should be trivial to find

I just got a working laptop and installed the OS, i did have not yet installed gimp and gmic so i could not do it but should be a easy fix

Adding instead a new option (corresponding to the new parameter in gmic ) in the Graechan script would be a bit more complex , and here may be no worth do it till David is planning more changes on the filter

But add 1 hardcoded value to the script-fu so it could work again that is simple and may be worth

I love updates and in this case edit the script fu should be painless :)

Don't have to go too far and remember the original circlism preset to appreciate your words here David. G'MIC's definitely becoming a powerful workhorse and I'm only referring to the GIMP plugin. Wish I could appreciate more the command line version but I prefer a GUI to work in. Maybe a future coder will come up with a GUI that can work directly with the command line version of G'MIC for a future editor. Then, all GIMPers have to do is Shellout into the new interface and get the full power of G'MIC. I believe the Shellout concept is the future way of editing anyway since no one editor can do it all so a synergistic hybrid editor is the key. Just wish computers were at least 10 times faster at launching other programs and transferring results back; wish it was, well, seamless if you will. Photo-Reactor also allows you to get parameters from external programs and pass it through it's flow but I've not toyed with that feature yet. Anyway, again, very much appreciate your efforts and also all that have added to G'MIC over the years as well. I can almost image G'MIC to be a stand-a-lone gui program in its own right much like the experimental web version (haven't been there in a while; not even sure it still works). Only would need a better layers dialogue interface (or better; nodes). :)

Rel 2.1 has just been uploaded see initial post, note! replace your current script and refresh Gmic

!!!This is a very important Release as your old script will cease to work as soon as Gmic is refreshed
