Just multiple passes of Packed Sprites. I quantized the target image (quantize is a better way to poster; it's a Script-fu but too lazy to find the link for it right now; been nearly 24 hours since I last slept. lol) into 3 different colors (but posterize would work too). I then made masks for the three colors and used a single object to Packed Sprites preset for each layer. David did an awesome job of adhering to masks so using this technque is pretty much child's play. Anyway, after I got my three layers, I made a 4th mask based on the voids left and filled the voids. No real need to make a tut imo.

I have an online friend that would like this preset to be all automatic but I told him a multipass approach isn't that hard to implement David. Also, don't congratulate me; I congratulate you since you figured a way to dramtically speed up packing as well as allow multiple objects to be packed. Kudos to you David. Maybe can be even faster one day when I ever break down and retire my nearly 6 year old machine for a faster one. lol

As a side note, did you ever get that you system and if so, can not compile 64-bit Windows updates for G'MIC? Just curious.

I've tried to install Linux alongside with Windows on the SSD, but never succeeded, so I did what any reasonable human would do : I've discarded Windows.
I should try to re-create a Virtualized windows, but this may take time (it's not that funny!).

Yeah; refuse to go there (Win8) and I so rarely use PS that, well, the only thing stopping me from going Linux is DAP. Just wish someone would create a universal translator for programs. Not sure if DAP can run in Wine (anyone try?). Anyway, I more then likely will decide to go all out Ubuntu when I do breakdown to get a more modern system. It will be 64-bit too (no offense Rod; eh? lol).

BUT all could be solved quickly as i just explained here ( viewtopic.php?f=15&t=7682&start=0 )

I should say that once done (restored the Start menu, disabled hot spots, i also totally removed all "apps" ) Win 8 seems quite faster and smoother then 7 ...and all could be done in minutes

Sorry for the OT but now finally i may reinstall GIMP and GMIC
(without that fixes Gimp and Gmic would be hardly usable on 8 , not only gimp but most of programs )
