no, it's not a card this time. it's something i've been planning to do for her for ages but never got round to. she's into celtic folk music, just like me, and she likes celtic knotwork and other celtic design, so i decided to make her a personal tshirt with a celtic motive.
i made the design plan myself. the knotwork is part my own, part stolen from erisian :). i first tried a more complex knot for the round part of the note, but it got too messed up when viewed from a distance, so in the end i made this simpler design. the little "flag" is a modified version of a triangular knot, erisian posted his version of that knot here not long ago and i thought that might be very suitable for the "flag".

here's the gimp image with the actual print. the png i uploaded at the tshirt printing site had a transparent background, but i added a grey background because it was easier to see that way. what looks like jagged edges zoomed out looks like decorated ribbons zoomed in, so take a look at the screenshot under the main image:

and here's a screenshot from within the design editor on the tshirt printing site, to give you a rough idea what it will look like:

wow, i had no idea 40 was that young. :hehe
rod: thanks, i hope she'll think so too!
rod: thank you! i have to tell my friend she's just a pup, she'll love to hear it.
sallyanne: oh, i'm sure 40 isn't all that good! you're probably better off as you are. i think she'll like it, but it's a bit nervous.
lylejk: thank you :)! i hope so.
erisian: thank you - in that case i'm not the only one here who is :).
he4rty: thanks, brother :)!
conbagui: thank you brother! i'm pretty sure she will be happy to hear how young she is, so i'll pass it on.

Wow, that is going to make an awesome T-Shirt. I wish I had friends like you. All I ever get from my friends is a hard time. :hehe

If my friends gave me a T-Shirt like that, it would probably say; Lordy, Lordy, Now I'm 40!! It's all downhill from here. :lol

mokonafan:  oh sister, you don't even exist yet! thank you, i really hope my friend will think it's lovely too.

gnu tux: hehe, maybe you just don't know the noble art of nagging, pleading, coaxing and begging well enough? i've found it doesn't matter so much what friends you have, it's the way you manage them... :hehe and thank you!

Lovely design and excellent gift, AnMal!

I'll probably steal the idea, cuz I'm running out of imagination when it comes to BD presents for my siblings,
cousins and their offsprings

Nice professional looking job you've done there. Pretty much caught the spirit of the whole Celtic thing.

k1tesseraena: thank you, brother :)! i know what you mean about the gifts - i have three sisters and a brother and i could handle the gift buying for them. but they have got into the habit of getting married and even having children and now it grows over my head! this tshirt thing is an experiment, though, i just hope it turns out well.
caz: thank you!! catching the spirit of the whole celtic thing sounds wonderful, i want to do that again :).
