Hey I found it. but the fire isn't coming out the selections, but anyway, this is what I did with your old script.

Maybe if I could make the text size smaller, but then everything else would be too small to see! I manage by moving it to the side so the dock isn't over the button. It's just that row of buttons that is under the dock, so it's only a tad too big.

I don't believe that was my script. The flames are different and mine doesn't currently support working on selected areas. Masking is supported which would allow you to limit where the fire shows, but in order to make the masking work to be "similar" to your example, you would need to use saulgoode's combine script. Plus, the fire always starts at the bottom of the image in my script, not at the selected areas. I'll post some different examples later and steps to show how to achieve the possible options.

Well, I'm glad you do have a workaround. I wish there were a few more options from a programming standpoint, but there aren't.

Now it works perfectly well. Thanks fencepost. You are brave, kind and very smart.

You are very welcome, Carlos! I aim to please, but sometimes my aim is a bit off! LOL Now, I need you to do something for me: Post some fire!

Sorry FP, I thought that was your script. Anyway this one is 1995 Spencer Kimball and Peter Mattis. I think I got that when I was still on GT.

I believe that script was one written by Vidar Madsen, originally written for GIMP 1.0 .

Here is a copy of the script updated for GIMP 2.4, posted mainly for posterity.

Gosh I don't think I saw that one. The one I used was 1995

fencepost, I'm recovering from a small dental surgery and I'm a little discouraged. When I get better, I'll produce a beautiful image.

This is my tribute to the fencepost, who very kindly modified your script to my request. The original image is from our Amazon Rainforest (one well of all mankind) that every hour is burned, devastated and reduced to dust and smoke. All your precious ecosystem is being destroyed to extend the Brazilian agricultural frontier and to provide profit to Asian logging.
I hope one day everyone can be aware of the damage the entire ecosystem will suffer if this destruction is not interrupted. The climate of the United States will be severely compromised. The humidity of the Amazon benefits the entire northern hemisphere.
How can you help?

Very nice job Carlos, I like the way you turned the flames down and showed more embers, did you save the settings you used for that one? I wouldn't mind having them if you want to share. :cool

Well done Carlos Diniz. :jumpclap Best use of this script I've seen yet.

Thanks molly and Wallace.
Molly. It was pretty simple. I applied the "Animatedfirelite" filter with the pre sets, except for width and height. Number of layers = 25. I reduced the transparency to 30% and the layer mode = burn. Then combine background. The BG was the image obtained on the internet.

Thank you Carlos. I did one here somewhere something like that but I left the flame default, I like the way you got the sky all red, so real looking and believable.

Welcome, fencepost. The time you spent to write the script was not in vain.
